Ady’s Barracks-Nate (04/01/2018 - 04/09/2018)

Nate is only 10 years old and suffers with shockingly low self-esteem and depression. As his parents, we watch him struggle to fit in socially and see him get overwhelmed with periods of rage and sadness when he feels misunderstood and left out.  Meltdowns are common place and stressful for our entire family. Nate has been in therapy for years learning different methods to break the cycle of rage/depression/low self-esteem.  Even though there has been improvement there is still a long... Read more

Brylee is a beautiful 4 ½ year old little girl. She was diagnosed with nonverbal autism spectrum disorder when she was 2 years old.  Brylee was a happy, healthy baby who hit all her developmental milestones on time up until she was a year old.  By the time Brylee was 18 months old, her mom knew there was something wrong.  During Brylee’s 2 year checkup, it was decided that she needed to be evaluated for autism.  As her parents, going... Ady’s Barracks-Caleb (08/15/2017 - 11/29/2017)

Let me introduce you to Caleb. Caleb is considered to be non-verbal because he only mimics everything someone else says. He is always on the go (even at night). He was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. He fills our days singing, dancing, and clapping to the 80’s hairband music. He also loves hot wheel cars (lining them up by colors and saying the make and model of each and every one). He rocks, spins, flaps his hands,... Read more

Mason Clinton   Mason is our beautiful, smart, sensitive, loving, blue-eyed 4 year old. Mason has Autism Spectrum Disorder, severe anxiety, and possible seizure disorder. We have had a long, exhausting journey with Mason, and we still have not reached our “destination.” Mason was the perfect baby boy we had been waiting for. Ady’s Wings-Andrew Festa (06/06/2016 - 09/13/2016)

Andrew Festa Andrew’s Story Andrew was the sunshine of his parents’ life from the day he was born. He met all developmental milestones early or on time. His path to autism was a little unusual with very subtle signs present as he approached his first birthday. He did begin having severe gastrointestinal issues at that time, but they were dismissed by doctors. At age two he began to receive speech and occupational therapies, but no one mentioned autism. He always... Read more

Ady’s Wings-Madison (11/11/2015 - 01/07/2016)

Madison Rice My husband and I learned about Madison not long after she was born. She was just 18 months old when she came to live with us, and we had no idea what her (dis)abilities were. I didn’t even know how to use her gtube. We adopted her on her third birthday! The day she had a huge seizure and we went to the trauma room of Texas Children’s, I had a huge knot in my stomach; this is... Read more

From Miles' Mom All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost-J.R.R Tolkien Miles Garcia Jackson blessed this world on a cool winter’s day.  I knew from the moment he was born that he was special.  Just how special remained to be seen.  He was born with 2 teeth and older nurses and hospital workers stopped by my room just to lay a hand on him.  “He’s lucky ma’am,” they’d tell me, eager to get close... Ady’s Paws – Eli (07/29/2015 - 9/21/2015)

Eli Cooper           Eli Cooper's Story Eli is our 8-year-old son, who is autistic and non-verbal as well as physically handicapped. The first 18 months of his life, Eli appeared to be typically developing in every way except speech. His pediatrician wanted to start some speech therapy, and that’s where our journey began. We kept thinking, “Oh, boys are slower learners; he will get it,” but it never came. Then, we dove head first into... Read more
